The Art Zone

I begin this blog with the concept of documenting the life of a K-12 art teacher in a small school.  I work in Sleepy Eye, a small town in Southwestern Minnesota.  The population of the school is about 620 students.  I am the only art teacher in the school.  I teach every elementary grade, a junior high art class (7th-8th grade) and then several high school classes (graphic design, computer animation, art I, art II, studio art, ceramics I and ceramics II).

Elementary classes are every other day for 25 minutes, there are two sections of junior high art that run an A/B schedule (each class meets every other day), and high school classes meet every day for 45 minutes.  With graphic design semester 1 and graphic design semester 2, ceramics is only semester 1).

In the days to come will be lesson plans, interesting things I've learned during my teaching career, pictures, documents, and any other interesting tidbits of information that pertain, in some way, to teaching.  Our teaching year ends in three weeks, we start in mid August, so from now until school starts again, I am going to document my end of the year routine, redecorating/organizing of my room, supply orders for next year and many other topics.
